** We need 2 practice models available to participate with course students. Models should arrive by 1:00pm.
Medical assistants assist with patient interviews, record medical histories, and take vital signs such as blood pressure and weight. They also aid the physician during examinations and administer injections or medications as directed by the physician and in compliance with the law.
In this course, we will train you in:
- Taking medical history
- Explaining treatments and/or procedures recommended by the physician to the patient
- Preparing the patient for the medical examination
- Taking and preparing laboratory samples
- Performing basic tests
- Instructing patients on medications or diets
- Preparing and administering intramuscular, intradermal, or subcutaneous injections such as vaccines, immunizations, as directed by a physician or other duly authorized professional (e.g., licensed nurses or physician assistants)
- Phlebotomy techniques
- Performing electrocardiograms (ECGs)
- Wound care and special dressings
Administrative tasks:
- Using computer applications for medical records
- Handling patient phone calls
- Greeting patients
- Updating and filling out patient medical records
- Scheduling medical appointments
Course duration: 6 weeks
Classes are every Friday, for 3 hours.

To practice this profession, you must obtain a state license. Allure Studio does not provide this license. All students must contact the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency to apply for, obtain, and renew their state license.
